Ask Us
Q: What is the cost?
A: Click here to view a convenient chart of the various
pricing options.
Q: Can I commute?
A: Yes!
There are motels and bed & breakfast facilities
within an easy drive of the campus.
Also, if you live nearby or plan to stay with a
relative who lives in the Columbus area, you'll
probably be only a 30-minute drive away.
A reduced conference fee is available for commuters.
Q: Can I attend classes for only half of the week?
A: Yes!
A separate conference rate is available for those
who can only take one class for part of the week.
Check the pricing chart and also check the
class chart to see what classes are offered for a half week.
Q: What is planned for the Tuesday afternoon off?
A: You may opt to stay on campus to catch up on,
or revisit, the vendors, exhibits or your pillow!
If you wish to take advantage of one of our reasonably priced planned
tours, we have arranged for the following day trips.
VISIT OHIO'S AMISH COUNTRY
A chartered bus will take you to Holmes County, Ohio, one of the largest Amish communities in the world.
Take a chartered tour
of an Amish farm for a glimpse into their daily
lifestyles and religious beliefs that they have held
onto for centuries. Afterwards, enjoy a meal served
home style and shop the local stores for Amish-made gifts.
DARD HUNTER'S MOUNTAIN HOUSE
& TECUMSEH OUTDOOR DRAMA
Hop on the chartered bus and head south to Chillicothe.
First stop of the day is a tour of Dard Hunter Papermaker
and his scenic Mountain House Studio and home.
Actually become involved in the papermaking process.
View their private press and collection of limited
edition handmade books.
That evening, before experiencing a live performance of Tecumseh,
you will dine in the amphitheater's outdoor terrace restaurant.
This outdoor drama is set in the foothills of Ohio's Sugarloaf
mountain. Thrill to the sounds of the herd of galloping horses
and military cannons as the epic life story of this Shawnee
leader unfolds.
Q: Celebration will be my first conference and
I don't know what to expect.
Is there anyone I can ask?
A: Yes!
Mary Ann David (fivft@aol.com) and
Joan Gordon (mgordon@iastate.edu)
will be happy to answer your pre-conference
questions. Then meet them and other conference
"veterans" on Saturday, July 19th, 2003, at 4:00 p.m.
by the clock outside of the Campus Center.
They will give you an overview of the week's activities
and acquaint you with the campus and conference life.
A dinner together will follow.
Q: What should I pack to bring with me
to the conference?
A: Summer days and nights can be hot and humid,
then there is air conditioning in the classrooms
to consider. So, plan on a layered wardrobe.
Pack as you would for any week-long vacation,
then take half of what you've packed
out of your suitcase and you'll still have packed
too much! Plus, you'll want to leave room for
conference purchases.
Comfortable clothes and shoes are a must.
Sheets, pillows, towels and blankets are provided.
Campus towels tend to be skimpy, so you may want to
bring your own fluffy bath towel.
Other items to consider bringing are: alarm clock,
hangers, portable lamp and fan, to name a few.
Remember that even though you will be on a college
campus you'll be only minutes away from civilization.
There are many stores within walking distance of the
campus to purchase items you may have forgotten.
As far as class supplies are concerned, leave the
kitchen sink at home. Paper & Ink Arts should have
everything you need.
Q: What types of housing will there be at
Ohio Wesleyan University?
A: Ohio Wesleyan has suite-type dormitories.
These can be configured to accommodate one,
two, three or four people. Every suite has its own
bathroom. All dorms have elevators. We will be
housed in three dormitories. Only one is air-conditioned,
and these rooms will be reserved on a first-come,
first-served basis, at an additional charge.
Q: Will I be able to check my e-mail?
A: Yes!
Each dorm has its own computer lab
with 10-12 computers with internet access.
Q: Are phones available to call home?
A: Yes!
Each dorm room has a phone which can receive
calls or place outgoing calls by using a
phone/calling card.
Q: What happens if my flight is late?
A: If you have given us your flight itinerary,
we should know of any changes! It is VERY important
that we have your itinerary so that we can assist you in
getting to the campus. If you have a change of plans,
you should notify us ASAP so that we can make
alternate arrangements and not leave you stranded.
Q: Will you be displaying Guild Banners
at the conference?
A: Yes!
The banners will be on display in the
atrium area of the Campus Center.

non-participating conference guests?

Creek State Park, only minutes away.
There is local shopping within walking distance,
or travel by car or public transportation 10 miles
south to Columbus' newest mall, Polaris.
Or take leisurely walks through the quaint
tree-lined streets of Delaware.
Q: Will we be able to see what was done throughout
the week in the other classrooms?
A: Yes!
Friday afternoon has been set aside for
A Show of Hands, in the Benes Room of the
Campus Center. Bring your camera!
